The Moody 48 DS is a 15.4-meter deck saloon sailboat, launched in December 2023 as a 2024 model year, designed by Bill Dixon to bridge the gap between luxury motor yachts and performance sailing vessels. It features a single-level layout connecting the cockpit and saloon, eliminating companionway stairs.10:19 The fractional sloop rig includes in-mast furling for the mainsail, a self-tacking jib, and an electrically controlled Genoa, all manageable from twin helm stations with push-button winch controls.5:28 The vessel displaces 21,160 kg and is powered by a 110-hp or 150-hp Yanmar engine, capable of 9.5 knots under power.7:53 A dedicated navigation station with engine and autopilot controls allows for all-weather operation, and mechanical systems are housed in an engine room.9:11 The base price for the model is $1.1 million. Aboard Sailing Northern Brees, the crew toured a Moody 48 DS at the Cannes Yacht Show, comparing its layout and features.11:51
