The Baltic Yachts 51 is a 15.5-meter masthead sloop designed by C&C Design and built by Baltic Yachts between 1979 and 1988, featuring a fin keel with a spade rudder. It displaces 15,599 kg and has a draft of 2.7 meters. Aboard *Vénus*, a Baltic Yachts 51 built in 1980, the keel-stepped mast measures 24 meters and weighs 700 kilograms.1:54 When unstepping the mast in -10°C conditions, the crew encountered challenges with snapped internal halyards and a stubborn spartite seal at the deck collar, which required drilling to release the mast.7:24
