The X-Yachts X-35 is a 10.6-meter fractional sloop designed by Niels Jeppesen and built by X-Yachts since 2005, featuring a fin with bulb and spade rudder hull. With a displacement of 4300 kg, the X-35 has a sail area to displacement ratio of 25.2 and a comfort ratio of 19.8. Aboard SEILmagasinet, a two-person crew prepared their X-Yachts X-35 for the Race to the Arctic, a regatta starting in Lofoten, by installing Starlink for connectivity, adding a storm jib, and upgrading life vests with spray hoods and MOB AIS units.2:49 The crew planned to reef early to compensate for the X-35's typical requirement for a larger crew for stability.2:32 The X-35 was among over 60 boats, including production cruiser-racers and performance one-designs, gathered at Mandal for the Race to the Arctic.watch
