What this video covers

A collision occurs at the start of the Skagen Race when a boat named Endepøl, which had started ten minutes earlier, comes in on starboard tack without steerage way and slams into the crew's vessel. The impact is loud but speed is low, limiting damage. Before the collision, the wind shifts sharply at the start, leaving the smaller nordisk class boats unable to hold their course on tack, while the larger boats that started ten minutes later motor up and blanket the fleet, effectively killing the start for the smaller class. A brief puff allows the crew to build speed and round the mark. Wind is light and easterly near the start area, with more breeze expected out toward Bolærne. The crew chooses to sail the longest legs first. They are running a fok (jib) rather than the genoa or light genoa used in similar conditions previously, and report the new sails perform well in light air — a notable improvement for a boat that has historically struggled in light wind.
