Docking with a spring line - solo

What this video covers

A single-handed docking technique using a loop line (løkkespring) replaces a conventional spring line when no bow thruster is available and wind makes berthing difficult.Watch The method works as follows: rig a loop from the boat's midship cleat, led aft to the stern.0:25 Approach the dock at roughly 45 degrees as normal, then swing the bow until the boat lies parallel to the berth.0:34 Put the engine in neutral, walk forward along the side deck, and drop the loop over a dock cleat or bollard.0:38 Return to the helm, engage forward gear, and ease the throttle up gently until the loop tightens.0:46 With light forward thrust the boat holds steady and parallel against the dock, freeing the skipper to step ashore and set proper bow and stern lines.1:03 The loop is then replaced with two full spring lines.1:09 The technique requires no crew and no bow thruster, relying instead on engine thrust against the tensioned loop to keep the boat stable while lines are rigged.
