The Beneteau Oceanis 510 is a masthead sloop designed by Philippe Briand, built by Beneteau from 1992 to the present, and also sold as the Mooring 510 and Stardust 515. It measures 15.29 meters LOA with a 4.75-meter beam, a 1.80-meter draft, and displaces 14,000 kg. Aboard *Lauren Landers Sailing*, the crew sailed a 1993 model through the Bahamas, Exumas, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and French Polynesia, encountering conditions up to 35 knots of wind and 9-foot swells. The boat's solar array consistently generates excess power, allowing for air conditioning and water heater use. The crew has addressed recurring mechanical issues, including replacing the outboard engine, repairing the solar array, bow, and windlass, and re-welding davit arms. During a 40-mile upwind passage, the boat sustained damage to its anchor safety, a solar panel mount, and a davit weld. The crew also managed a major shaft seal leak that flooded the bilge and submerged electrical components.
