The Beneteau Oceanis 510 is a 15.3-meter masthead sloop designed by Philippe Briand, built by Beneteau from 1992 to the present, and also sold as the Mooring 510 and Stardust 515. It has a wing keel, a 4.8-meter beam, a 1.8-meter draft, and displaces 13,999 kg. Aboard *Lauren Landers Sailing*, a Beneteau Oceanis 510 sustained structural damage during a 40-mile upwind passage in 30 to 35 knots of wind and 7- to 9-foot swells, resulting in a snapped davit weld and a ripped solar panel mount.16:25 The crew uses pearl floats on the anchor chain to prevent coral damage in deep anchorages and practices floating the anchor chain to avoid bommies in the Tuamotus.3:23 The vessel has been sailed in French Polynesia, including passages to Fakarava and Toau, and anchored in Moorea.1:49 The crew has encountered squalls up to 43 knots, requiring them to remain aboard for days.21:14 The main engine's shaft seal has leaked but was fixed in about ten minutes.6:59
