The Bavaria Yachts 44 is a 13.9-meter fractional sloop designed by J&J Yacht Design and built by Bavaria Yachts between 2002 and 2004, displacing 9599 kg with a 1.9-meter draft. It is an update of the Bavaria 42 and was later replaced by the Bavaria 46. The Bavaria 44 is frequently used for ocean passages, with one appearing in the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) data for 2020–2025. Aboard *Sailing SV Cordelia*, a Bavaria 44 navigated the River Hamble and River Itchen in Southampton, UK, during Storm Kathleen, encountering 25-to-35-knot winds and heavy commercial traffic.6:45 The crew of *Sailing Zatara* encountered an 18-year-old captain sailing a 2002 Bavaria 44 in Georgetown, Bahamas.12:47 Maintenance on a Bavaria Yachts 44 includes servicing the Volvo Penta D2-55 engine's heat exchanger and exhaust riser, a process detailed by *Alfredo Contaldo*. *Be The Captain* notes that crevice corrosion in stainless steel rigging components, particularly at turnbuckles, can cause mast failures on production sailboats, recommending inspections at six to eight years and full replacement between 10 and 12 years for active cruisers.0:18
