The Catalina Yachts 445 is a fractional sloop designed by Gerry Douglas and built by Catalina Yachts from 2009 to the present, intended as a dedicated cruising boat for couples.2:54 It has a fin keel with a bulb and spade rudder, measures 13.5 meters LOA, 4.1 meters beam, 2.1 meters draft, and displaces 10,659 kg. The 445 features a finer, wave-piercing bow combined with a wider stern, aiming to balance interior volume and downwind speed with upwind performance. It offers two keel configurations, including a 5-foot draft for coastal cruising and a 7-foot draft for deeper waters, and a wing keel version is also available.1:17 The 445's deck includes inboard chainplates, long jib tracks, and a self-tacking jib system, with a new mainsheet system allowing trimming from both port and starboard sides of the cabin top.3:28 The interior prioritizes functionality with a master stateroom featuring an adjustable electric berth, a dedicated workshop or storage room, and a Yanmar diesel engine with accessible maintenance points.5:34 Aboard *Practical Sailor*, a 2010 Catalina 445, hull number 22, was seen with upgrades including 700 watts of Renogy flexible solar panels, a 3000-watt Victron inverter-charger, and a Starlink Mini for connectivity.0:18 The 445 has a 63-foot Selden rig, making it suitable for the ICW.4:14 The 2024 446 (6 Series) shares the same hull with updated keels, deck, laminate, and systems.8:41
