What the fleet has seen

The Lagoon 47, as the fleet has seen it

The Lagoon 47 is a 14.1-meter fractional sloop catamaran with a rotating spar, designed by Van Peteghem, Lauriot Prevost, and Lauriot-Prevost, and built by Lagoon, Jeanneau, and Lagoon Catamaran since 1992. It features a twin keel hull, a 7.6-meter beam, a 1.1-meter draft, and displaces 9000 kg. Lagoon, a division of the Beneteau Group, has produced over 7,000 catamarans since 1984, establishing an 18% global market share. The brand shifted to luxury cruising with its first 55-foot model in 1987, and the 1999 introduction of the Lagoon 380 transitioned the company into a mainstream manufacturer.3:07 While Lagoon models like the 420 Hybrid and 450 achieved high sales volumes, they faced scrutiny for reliability issues and structural concerns, leading to reinforcement repair kits and dedicated support. Aboard *Sam Holmes Sailing*, a solo sailor replaced a failing polyester control line with Dyneema for durability and performed engine maintenance, including oil and filter changes, while navigating to Virgin Gorda.1:37
