The New YORK YACHT CLUB 57 is a 26.0-meter cutter-rigged sailboat designed by N. Herreshoff and built by Herreshoff Manufacturing between 1906 and 1908. Three boats were built to the Universal Rule '57' rating for New York Yacht Club members, originally named Istalena, Aurora, and Winsome. These boats raced as a class for at least one season before being altered for handicap racing. The design features a fin keel, a 5.0-meter beam, a 3.3-meter draft, and displaces 54,703 kg. Winsome was later converted into a ketch, then a yawl. Istalena, thought to be the last surviving boat, was lost in the 1960s. Steve and Linda Dashew considered purchasing a Herreshoff 57 hull in New Zealand but rejected it due to construction concerns, as seen in a Berthon International review.
