What this video covers

Adam and Luke of The Sailing Brothers lost control of their YouTube channel, email, and linked financial accounts after opening a malicious PDF file sent via a fake collaboration email while in Suva, Fiji.2:12 The hackers immediately changed all passwords, recovery phone numbers, and security credentials, locking the pair out of their primary digital assets for four days.2:37 The duo attempted to contact Google and X (formerly Twitter) support but received only generic, automated responses.6:57 They eventually regained access after reaching out to another creator, Sailing with Thomas, who contacted the YouTube creator team on their behalf.8:06 The recovery process required providing a detailed history of devices and locations used to access the account, including past logins from French Polynesia, Australia, and the UK.9:03 Although the hackers attempted to use the linked PayPal account for a fraudulent gift card purchase, they did not delete any content or alter the channel’s existing videos.10:00
