What the fleet has seen

The Hanse Yachts 588, as the fleet has seen it

Derived from the videos the fleet has analysed of this model. ▶ marks open the moment aboard.

The Hanse Yachts 588 is a 17.2-meter performance cruiser designed by Judel, Vrolijk, Co. and built by Hanse Yachts since 2017. The fractional sloop features a fin keel with a bulb and spade rudder, displacing 22,799 kg. Aboard *Magma*, a 2017 model, the yacht is seen with a synthetic teak deck, an anodized mast with a triple-spreader rig, and an electric furling headsail.1:10 Its "easy sailing" configuration routes all halyards aft to the cockpit, where electric winches and dual helm pedestals control the 145-horsepower Volvo engine, bow and stern thrusters, and B&G instrumentation.3:12 The cockpit includes twin high-low tables and a transom that folds to provide dinghy storage and swim access.2:56 Below deck, the interior features a maple finish, air conditioning, and a Fisher Panda 8 KVA generator, with eight berths across four cabins, including a forward owner’s stateroom.5:03 Aboard *Sarah*, a chartered Hanse 588, the crew motor-sails with a self-tacking headsail and a Volvo Penta engine during a two-day passage from Barcelona to Castelsardo, encountering freezing temperatures and 35-knot winds upon arrival.13:52 Technicians repaired a companionway door with loose supports by replacing short screws with longer ones secured into solid wood inserts.7:25
