The Voyage Yachts 500 is a 15.2-meter fractional sloop catamaran with twin keels, designed by Simonis - Voogd and built by Voyage Yachts between 2006 and 2009. It has an 8.2-meter beam, a 1.2-meter draft, and displaces 10,300 kg. Aboard The On Deck Channel, a Voyage 50 was used to compare the efficiency of AC and DC air conditioning units.3:55 An 18,000 BTU Dometic Voyager AC unit and an 18,000 BTU Blue Airco Evolution 48-volt DC unit were tested on the Voyage 50 and a Leopard 50 in 76-degree water.2:18 Both units delivered similar cooling output, but the DC-powered Blue Airco consumed 1,050 watts compared to the AC-powered Dometic's 1,383 watts, saving 333 watts.10:19 This efficiency gain translates to 2,600 watt-hours over an eight-hour night, equivalent to a 200-amp-hour lithium battery.10:36
