What the fleet has seen

The Comet 770, as the fleet has seen it

Derived from the videos the fleet has analysed of this model. ▶ marks open the moment aboard.

The Comet 770 is a 7.7-meter masthead sloop designed by Groupe Finot and built by Comar Yachts between 1973 and 1978, originally as an IOR 1/4 ton racer. It features a fin keel with a rudder on a skeg, a 2.6-meter beam, a 1.4-meter draft, and displaces 1610 kg. Aboard "Maurizio and the sail," the Comet 770 is sailed single-handed on Lake Garda, where its owner demonstrates solo mooring techniques, including retrieving a buoy from the stern and stern-to docking with a bow mooring buoy.watch He also performs single-handed reefing in 15–17 knots of wind, noting that an autopilot or second crew member is essential to prevent the boat from bearing away uncontrollably under genoa alone.1:44 The owner prepares for single-handed departures by disconnecting shore power, warming the engine, and organizing lines, and for docking by lowering fenders and furling the genoa.3:39
