The Etap 38i is a 1989–1997 Masthead Sloop designed by Mortain and Mavrikios, built by Etap Yachting, featuring a wing keel, an LOA of 11.6 m, a beam of 3.9 m, and a displacement of 6404 kg. Aboard VOILIER ODIN, the crew sailed an Etap 38i from France to Santander, Spain, relying on the engine for several hours due to light winds and heavy swell, and later performed a 50-hour break-in maintenance on a Beta Marine 50H engine, noting its accessibility for maintenance.30:03 The crew also cruised the Canary Islands, exploring La Gomera's volcanic landscapes and dense forests, and visited Cape Verde, where they found affordable mooring buoys and local markets for provisions.15:00 The owner undertook a six-week custom galley renovation, installing a seawater tap and reinforcing cabinetry with aluminum brackets, and replaced an engine, constructing a custom companionway enclosure to maximize storage and engine access.9:55 They also replaced a staysail halyard, installed new electronics including a VHF radio and a 220V power strip, and applied a non-slip deck paint, Wadgrip, to a 24-square-meter deck area.17:13
