Aboard *Life is Like Sailing*, the Hans CHRISTIAN 43 *Northern Dancer 5* cruises the British Columbia coast, including a 527-nautical-mile passage from Vancouver to Prince Rupert.2:24 The crew insulates the hull with half-inch closed-cell foam and cork sheeting to address condensation in northern climates and upgrades the house bank to AGM batteries, adding two 50-watt solar panels.12:21 They navigate narrow fjords, encountering chop, headwinds, and adverse currents in Grenville Channel, and time transits through Malibu Rapids with high-water slack.8:21 The boat anchors in various locations, including Clunugget Marine Park and Smuggler's Cove, often stern-tying in crowded anchorages.5:17 A four-week refit at Blackline Marine upgraded the standing rigging, replaced the bowsprit with a laminated Sapele mahogany unit, and installed Harken Mark 4 furling systems.0:56 The crew also modified the anchor assembly to accommodate a Bruce anchor and installed bronze rollers with grease nipples.19:17
