What the fleet has seen

The Oyster Marine 37 Heritage, as the fleet has seen it

The Oyster Marine 37 HERITAGE is a 1980s masthead sloop designed by Holman, Pye, and Kim Holman, built by Oyster Marine Ltd. with a fin keel and rudder on skeg.1:21 The 11.3-meter yacht displaces 6592 kg and has a 1.6-meter draft.1:46 Aboard *Sailing Florence*, an Oyster Marine 37 HERITAGE named Florence completed a seven-year, 50,000-mile circumnavigation before undergoing an eight-month refit in England for high-latitude sailing.watch The refit included repairing osmosis on the rudder, investigating P-bracket and skeg cracks, and replacing a soft-core deck section near the Samson post.8:54 The crew installed a furler for the staysail, upgraded to lithium batteries with 400 watts of solar, and added a new diesel heater.2:41 The mast was removed for interior work and shed storage, and a temporary bulkhead repair was replaced with a permanent marine-ply structure.5:10 The crew also replaced the aluminum toe rail, installed a stainless steel Spade anchor, and upgraded windlass switches.4:51 They replaced the Treadmaster cork decking with KiwiGrip paint and installed new acrylic windows.3:45 Electronics were modernized with a B&G suite, including a touchscreen chart plotter, radar, and forward-scan sonar. *Sailing Florence* has navigated shipping lanes in the Baltic Sea, short-tacked through the Thames Estuary and Goodwin Sands, and transited from the Isle of Skye to the remote St Kilda archipelago in the North Atlantic.11:30 The crew has used eyeball navigation in reef-strewn channels in Indonesia and sailed overnight passages using an asymmetric spinnaker in light winds.4:07
