What the fleet has seen

The Bavaria Yachts 36, as the fleet has seen it

Derived from the videos the fleet has analysed of this model. ▶ marks open the moment aboard.

The Bavaria Yachts 36 is a J&J Yacht Design masthead sloop built by Bavaria Yachts from 1998 to 2000, featuring a fin keel with a bulb and a spade rudder. With an LOA of 11.6 meters, a beam of 3.7 meters, and a displacement of 5360 kg, it was later re-named the Bavaria 37 in 2000. Aboard *Nova Vita*, the Bavaria Yachts 36 completed a 28-day, 2,530-mile Atlantic crossing from Saint Martin to Horta, Faial, despite a damaged shroud that required a Dyneema repair at sea and limited the use of the rig.18:51 The crew of *Nova Vita* also sailed passages in the Caribbean, including from Prince Rupert Bay, Dominica, to Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe, and from Antigua to Barbuda, where they navigated shallow waters with only one meter of keel clearance.0:05 During an Atlantic crossing, *Nova Vita* encountered frequent squalls with 30-knot winds and extended calms, necessitating engine use and a "cat-and-mouse" game with shifting weather forecasts.5:38 The crew experienced a wind vane failure early in the passage and a Lofrans Cobra windlass motor failure after 14 months of service in Horta.1:38
