The C&C Yachts 39 is a Masthead Sloop designed by Cuthertson, Cassian, and C&C Design, built by C&C Yachts from 1971 to 1974. This fin-keeled sailboat with a spade rudder measures 12.0 m LOA, has a 3.5 m beam, 1.9 m draft, and displaces 7711 kg. Aboard *Epiphany*, a 1972 C&C Yachts 39, the crew installed a SeaWater Pro modular watermaker, requiring custom plumbing and component placement due to limited storage, producing 20 gallons per hour at 800–900 PSI.16:05 The crew of *Epiphany* uses a 12.5-foot Bree inflatable dinghy with a 9.9-horsepower Mercury outboard for shore transit in the Exumas, Bahamas.12:45 They manage electrical and water needs independently at anchor, rationing fresh water for showers by using saltwater for initial lathering and only one quart of fresh water for rinsing.6:06 The skipper of *Epiphany* recounted running north up Exuma Sound in darkness through 12–16-foot seas to escape Hurricane Melissa, experiencing prop cavitation on the 10-ton boat.32:20 He also repaired a Garmin GPSMAP 5212 chartplotter by scavenging a wire harness from a used unit after the original NMEA 2000 connector broke.2:30
