The Ovni 435 is a 12.9-meter aluminum cutter designed by Philippe Briand and built by Chantier Alubat from 2004 to the present. It features a lifting keel and displaces 10,299 kg. Jon Amtrup, a Norwegian sailing journalist, previously owned an Ovni 435, citing its aluminum hull for ice resistance and superior insulation, which kept the interior warm at minus 20°C. Amtrup, who sails year-round, heated his boat with a Refleks diesel stove.
