The Rawson 30 is a masthead sloop designed by William Garden and built by Ron Rawson, Inc. from 1958 to 1984, with a length overall of 9.3 meters, a beam of 2.7 meters, and a displacement of 5443 kg. The model was offered in multiple configurations, including a tall-rig sloop, a yawl conversion with a bowsprit, and a limited number of pilot house versions. Aboard *Sailing Spy*, Aaron and Allie sailed their Rawson 30, *Spy*, through the Inside Passage of Vancouver Island, navigating tidal currents and anchoring at various locations such as Hernando Island.4:32 They later cruised the west coast of Vancouver Island, departing Alert Bay for Port Hardy, and subsequently sailed in Baja, Mexico, where they upgraded their solar array to address energy deficits from their water maker and refrigeration.8:11 The crew of *Spy* performed extensive maintenance in Pinasco, Mexico, including flushing the watermaker, servicing the outboard, replacing fuel filters, and greasing seacocks for a four-month lay-up.2:43 They also cleaned heavy barnacle growth from the hull in Mexico to regain speed, noting that anti-fouling paint applied in Washington failed in warmer waters.6:40
