The Allied Boat Co. Seawind is a 9.3-meter masthead ketch designed by Thomas Gillmer, built from 1962 to 1982, and notable as the first fiberglass boat to circumnavigate.0:51 Originally designed for Kaiser Gale Force Yachts, Allied Boat Co. acquired the molds, modified the cabin top and port arrangement, and launched the Seawind in 1962.0:51 It was the first and one of the last boats built by Allied, with production resuming in 1978 alongside the Seawind II. The Seawind has a long keel with a transom-hung rudder, a beam of 2.8 meters, a draft of 1.3 meters, and a displacement of 5443 kg.1:32 Aboard *TheSailingChannel.TV*, a 1976 Allied Seawind, the *Wind Catcher*, completed an Atlantic crossing and was sailed on a two-day cruise along the central Gulf Coast of Florida, navigating fair weather and squalls. *Knot Your Average Boat* notes that project-condition Seawinds sell for $8,000–$15,000, with chainplate corrosion being a primary inspection concern due to fittings glassed or bolted through the deck.0:47
